API/MCP · Build on Skylit · Beta
Give your code and your agents the same data the terminal runs on
One key opens Skylit's dealer positioning, options flow and volatility data over plain HTTP or the Model Context Protocol. Your agent asks a question in English; the right tool answers with the numbers.
The problem
Market data is either easy to read or easy to call, rarely both
- Raw options feeds arrive as ticks. Turning them into positioning, scored flow and volatility percentiles is months of work before your first useful answer.
- An AI agent handed a REST reference spends its context learning your parameters instead of answering your question, and there is no way to see what a run cost.
- Once the data does arrive, it rarely matches what you are looking at on screen — so a backtest and the terminal disagree and you cannot tell which one is wrong.
With API/MCP
The same computed data the Skylit terminal reads, under one key
Every number the API and MCP server return is the same computed series the Skylit app renders — the gamma and vanna board per strike with its node classification, scored options flow with sweeps and tide, and Tempest's volatility readings — so your code and your screen agree. Call it as ordinary HTTP with a bearer token, subscribe to a live stream, or connect an MCP client and let an agent pick the tool. There are 63 tools on the MCP server plus a short intelligence tool list that answers a whole question in one call and hands back a factual summary with the figures behind it. Metering is visible rather than inferred: one credit is $0.001, every response carries your remaining balance, and failed calls are refunded. Everything is read-only — nothing here places an order.
How it works
API/MCP, step by step
Get a key on the Developer page
Open the Developer page in Skylit to create up to five keys, see your credit balance and daily limits, add a credit pack, or redeem an invite code. The same key works across every product your plan includes.
Call it over plain HTTP
Send your key as a bearer token to api.skylit.ai and read JSON. Ask for the live per-strike board, replay it at a past instant, pull key levels, or subscribe to a Server-Sent Events stream for up to ten symbols on one connection.
Or connect an AI agent over MCP
Point an MCP client at mcp.skylit.ai/mcp. Clients that support it offer Sign in with Skylit, so there is no key to paste; headless agents send the bearer token instead. Ask a question in English and the agent calls the tool that answers it.
Watch what it costs while you build
Each response carries the credits it cost and the balance left, and the free account call reports the limits that actually apply to your key, so an agent can read them at startup instead of hard-coding them.
Capabilities
What you can do with API/MCP
Dealer positioning, per strike
The live gamma and vanna board for one or more symbols, strike by strike, with the velocity metric and Skylit's node classification — the same King and Gatekeeper labels the board shows in the app.
Replay any past instant
Ask for the board as it stood at a moment in the past, or every snapshot across a window, and reconstruct what positioning looked like while a move was happening.
Scored options flow
Trades with their Flow Score, multi-exchange sweeps, bullish-versus-bearish tide, momentum against a trailing baseline, strike concentration, unusual volume and open-interest changes, and dark pool prints.
Volatility readings
Tempest over the API: implied volatility per symbol with its percentile, term structure, expected-move cones, skew and surface, call-versus-put premium imbalance, event implied moves, and a screener across the whole universe.
63 MCP tools, one gateway
Every tool wraps one call one-to-one — same auth, same cost, same JSON — grouped by purpose so an agent can discover symbols first and then reach for analytics.
Intelligence tools for one-call answers
A separate short tool list answers a question outright — where the key levels are, whether volatility is high for this symbol, what moved since a given time, what the market looks like now — returning a few factual sentences plus the figures behind them.
Live streams
Server-Sent Events for the positioning board and for volatility updates, so a long-running agent or dashboard follows the session instead of polling it.
Metering you can see
One credit is $0.001 and costs are published per call. Every response reports the balance remaining, any failed call is refunded, and the account call is free.
Pairs with
API/MCP with the rest of Skylit
Heatseeker
The board, the key levels and the replay window you read on screen, available as JSON — useful for checking a rule against what the board actually showed.
Flowseeker
Scored flow, sweeps and tide as data, so a screen you built by hand in the app can run on a schedule instead.
Tempest
Volatility readings and the whole-universe screener, on plans that include Tempest; other plans get a free, uncharged refusal rather than a surprise bill.
Which plans include API and MCP access?
Paid memberships. Pro covers every symbol and every product including volatility data, replay and streams, with 100,000 credits included each month. The Developer plan is the same API and MCP access at $349 a month without the web platform's trading tools. Initiate covers its own 63 symbols without replay or volatility data, and Community covers options flow only; both start with 5,000 credits and then pay as you go. Free accounts have no API access.
What is MCP, and why would I use it over the API?
The Model Context Protocol is a standard way for an AI assistant to call outside tools. Over plain HTTP you choose the call and parse the JSON yourself; over MCP you ask in English and the assistant picks the tool, reads the result and answers. The data and the cost are identical either way.
Which AI clients can connect?
Any MCP client. Clients that support Sign in with Skylit need only the address — you approve the connection on a Skylit page and never handle a key. Everything else, including headless agents and scripts, sends the key as a bearer token instead.
How does the pricing work?
Calls are metered in credits, where one credit is $0.001, and each call's cost is published. Paid plans include a monthly allowance that resets at the start of the month; beyond it, credit packs start at $50 for 55,000 credits and stay valid for twelve months. Anything that fails is refunded.
Can the API place trades?
No. Every call and every tool is read-only. There is no way to submit, change or cancel an order through the API or the MCP server.
Will my agent's numbers match what I see in the app?
They come from the same computed series, so a reading taken at the same moment matches. Live figures move between a call and a glance at the screen, and each response carries the time it was computed so you can line the two up.
Is it still in beta?
Yes. The API and MCP server are open to members with API access and in active development, so tools and limits can still change. The account call and the rate-limit headers always report the limits that apply to your key, which is what an agent should read rather than a number from a page like this one.

Build on the data the terminal runs on
A REST API and 63 MCP tools under one key, metered in credits you can see, read-only throughout. Educational material, not financial advice.
