API Terms

These API Terms apply when you use Skylit's APIs, MCP server, SDKs, or any key, token or connected app we issue (the "API"), and to the data, values and responses the API returns ("API Data"). They add to the Skylit Terms of Service. Where the two conflict about use of the API, these API Terms apply. You accept these API Terms when you create your first key or connect your first app, and again only when we publish a new version.

1. Your key is personal

A key is issued to one person, for that person's use. Do not share, sell, lend or publish your key, or build it into software that other people use. Scripts, bots and AI agents that act only for you are fine. You are responsible for everything done with your key.

2. Personal and research use

Without any further license, you may:

Use API Data for your own trading, investing, research and education
Build private tools, dashboards, alerts, models and agents that serve only you
Combine API Data with your own data and methods to create your own signals, indicators, scores and analysis ("Derived Works")

3. Sharing what you build, with attribution

We want you to show what you build. Without charge to your audience, you may publicly share:

Charts, screenshots, commentary, research, papers and backtest results that use API Data or your Derived Works
Open-source code that calls the API, as long as each user brings their own key
Individual values mentioned occasionally and not in real time (for example, "SPY's largest positive gamma level today was 580")

Whenever you share, credit Skylit visibly with "Data: Skylit" or "Powered by Skylit" and a link to skylit.ai, next to the content or in the same post. In video or audio, say it and put the link in the description. Logos are on our brand assets page. Do not suggest that Skylit made, reviewed or endorses your analysis, signals or trades, and do not remove Skylit disclaimers.

Attributed sharing does not include the following. Each one needs a commercial license (section 4):

Real-time or near-real-time feeds, or systematic or scheduled publication (for example, a bot or account that posts levels every day)
Bulk data: tables, files, datasets or time series of API Data
Raw exchange data (prices, quotes, trades) beyond incidental amounts

4. Commercial use needs a license

You need a written commercial license from Skylit before you:

Charge for, or earn revenue from, anything that uses API Data or Derived Works, including paid signals, alerts, newsletters, courses, communities (Discord, Telegram, Whop and similar), apps, SaaS features and advisory services
Provide API Data or Derived Works to other people through an app, bot, website, API or agent, even for free, beyond the attributed sharing in section 3
Use the API for a business, a fund, or other people's money

Email support@skylit.ai to discuss a license. Commercial licenses require "Powered by Skylit" attribution and may include exchange fees.

5. Derived Works

Your Derived Works, including your code, ideas and signals, belong to you. Skylit and its licensors keep all rights in API Data and in the methods behind it. If a Derived Work can stand in for API Data, or API Data can be recovered from it, it counts as API Data under these API Terms. That includes a rescaled, smoothed, delayed or renamed version of a Skylit series.

6. Never allowed

These are not allowed, with or without attribution, unless Skylit agrees in writing:

Reselling, sublicensing, proxying or re-serving the API or API Data, or caching it for others
Building or improving a product that competes with Skylit, including any market-data, analytics, signal, API or MCP service
Training or fine-tuning AI or machine-learning models on API Data, or building datasets from it. The only exception is models used privately for your own trading and research
Reverse engineering Skylit's methods, or querying the API systematically to reconstruct or replicate its datasets
Getting around rate limits, quotas, entitlements or security, including by using more than one account
Any use that breaks the law, including market manipulation

7. Exchange and third-party data

Some API Data comes from exchanges and data providers that set their own rules. You agree to follow them, to report your professional or non-professional status accurately, and to sign any subscriber agreement we present. Raw exchange data is never redistributed without the licenses those exchanges require.

8. Monitoring and enforcement

We meter and log API use, and we look for key sharing, redistribution and abuse. If we believe you have broken these API Terms, we may throttle, suspend or revoke your keys and connected apps, ask you to take content down, or require a commercial license for the use to continue. This is in addition to our rights under the Terms of Service.

9. Showcase

If you publicly share work that credits Skylit, we may link to it and feature it, with your name or handle, to show what people build with Skylit. Email support@skylit.ai if you would rather we didn't.

10. The service and changes

The API is provided "as is". The disclaimers, limitation of liability and no-advice terms in the Terms of Service apply to the API and API Data. We may change, limit or stop the API, its pricing and its limits. When we change these API Terms materially, we will ask you to accept the new version before you create a new key or connect a new app.
