# Intelligence tools

> One-call answers for agents: key levels, volatility context, what changed, a market brief and flow context, each with a short factual summary.

The standard Skylit MCP tools each wrap one API endpoint. The intelligence tools answer a question in one call instead: they call the endpoints they need in parallel and return

- `summary`: two to four factual sentences with the numbers (no advice, no recommendations),
- `data`: the compact figures behind the summary,
- `meta`: `cost` (credits), `creditsRemaining`, `asOf`, `partial` (true if one of the underlying calls failed and the answer uses the rest) and `shareClass`.

## Connect

The intelligence tools have their own tool list, so an agent that wants them does not load the 63 standard tools:

```
https://mcp.skylit.ai/mcp?toolset=intelligence
```

Sign-in and API keys work exactly as on the standard server (see [Quickstart](https://www.skylit.ai/docs/mcp/quickstart)). For example, in Claude Code:

```bash
claude mcp add --transport http skylit-intel "https://mcp.skylit.ai/mcp?toolset=intelligence"
```

The list also includes `account_usage` (free) so the agent can check its balance.

## Tools

| Tool | What it answers | Arguments | Credits |
| --- | --- | --- | --: |
| `explain_levels` | Where are the key dealer-positioning levels for this symbol? | `symbol`, `metric` (`gamma` default or `vanna`) | 1 |
| `vol_context` | Is volatility high or low for this symbol, and how far might it move? | `symbol` | 2 |
| `whats_changed` | How has the positioning board moved since a given time? | `symbol`, `since` (RFC 3339), `metric` | 6 |
| `market_brief` | What does the market look like right now? | none | 5 |
| `flow_context` | What is today's options flow saying for this ticker? | `ticker` | 9 |

`symbol` and `ticker` are interchangeable on every tool.

### Notes

- **Expected moves** in `vol_context` are 1-sigma moves measured from the current price, so they move with price.
- **VIX readings** in `market_brief` are Skylit's own, computed from the SPX and VIX option chains; they are not the official Cboe index values.
- **`whats_changed`** compares the board at `since` (within the replay window) with the live board. The King node then and now are the server's own classification.
- **Plans:** `vol_context` and the VIX part of `market_brief` need a plan that includes Tempest. Without it, `vol_context` answers `not_entitled` (not charged) and `market_brief` returns the rest with `meta.partial: true`.
- All tools are read-only and never place orders.

## Example

Ask: *"Give me a market brief, then explain the levels for SPY and tell me what changed since 10:30 ET."* The agent calls `market_brief`, `explain_levels` and `whats_changed` and answers from their summaries.
