# Net Premium

> Running net call premium and net put premium since the anchor period opened, in its own pane, with bought and sold judged against the mid.

Net Premium draws **two running totals in a pane under the chart**: net call premium and net put premium since the period opened. "Net" means premium bought minus premium sold. A trade above the mid counts as bought, below the mid as sold.

What you're looking for is the two lines pulling apart. On QQQ, a call line climbing away from a flat put line through the morning is one-sided upside positioning. Both lines rising together is a busy tape, not a directional one.

## Adding the indicator

Open the chart settings panel and use the **Add** button in the Indicators section. Net Premium sits in the **Subpane** group, right after Flow. You can add up to four, each anchored on its own.

## Settings

| Setting | Options | What it controls |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Anchor | **Session** (default), Week, Month, Quarter, Year | When both totals reset to zero. Futures sessions roll at 18:00 ET, not midnight. |
| Lines | Calls colour, Puts colour | Green for calls and red for puts by default, the same colours net premium uses everywhere else in Skylit. |

## Reading notes

- **Trades at the mid are left out.** So are trades with no quote to judge against. They're excluded rather than split between bought and sold.
- **Each trade counts for at most $2M.** One giant block can't flatten the rest of the session, so the lines read as how broad the positioning is, not the size of the single biggest ticket.
- **A reset isn't a move.** When the anchor period rolls over, both lines go back to zero. That drop is the reset, not selling.
- **The row label always shows the anchor,** like "Net Premium · Session", since that's the one thing that tells two panes apart.
