# Killzones

> Boxes around each trading session's range (Asia, London, New York AM, lunch and PM), with high and low lines that run until price trades through them.

Killzones **boxes each trading session from its high to its low**, so you can see at a glance what range Asia built, what London did with it, and where New York is trading against both. A line sits at each box's high and low and keeps running to the right until price trades through it. An untaken London low under NQ at the New York open is exactly the kind of level this makes easy to spot.

The labels on the chart use short codes: ASIA, LNDN, NYAM, NYL, NYPM and RTH. All hours are New York time and follow daylight saving.

## Adding the indicator

Open the chart settings panel and use the **Add** button in the Indicators section. Killzones sits in the **Overlay** group. One instance per chart pane. It used to be called Session Zones, and typing that, or `ict`, into the Add menu's filter box still finds it.

## The sessions

| Killzone | Default hours (ET) | On by default |
| --- | --- | --- |
| ASIA | 20:00 to 00:00 | Yes |
| LNDN | 02:00 to 05:00 | Yes |
| NYAM | 09:30 to 11:00 | Yes |
| NYL (lunch) | 12:00 to 13:00 | No |
| NYPM | 13:30 to 16:00 | Yes |
| RTH | 09:30 to 16:00 | No |

Tap a name in the cog to change its label, its hours or its colour.

## Settings

| Setting | Options | What it controls |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Killzones | On or off per session, with Label, Hours (ET) and colour | Which sessions draw, and how each one is named and timed. |
| Opacity | 0.04 to 0.6, **0.16** by default | How strong the box fill is. Lines and labels stay at full strength. |
| Sessions to keep | 1 to 20, **3** by default | How many sessions per killzone stay on the chart. Older ones drop off. |
| Extend pivots | **Until taken** (default), Past taken | Until taken stops each high and low line at the first later bar that trades through it. Past taken keeps it running to the latest bar. |
| From which sessions | **Most recent** (default), All | Most recent extends only each killzone's newest session. All extends every session you keep. |
| Labels | **On** (default), Off | A small name at the end of each line, like "ASIA High". |
| Separators | **Off** (default), On, plus a colour | A thin dashed line before each session day: 09:30 or 04:00 ET on stocks, the 18:00 ET open on futures. |

## Reading notes

- **It draws on 30-minute charts and under.** On a wider interval the cog says so and nothing draws.
- **Boxes come from the bars on your chart.** Stocks don't trade overnight and index feeds like SPX and VIX only print regular hours, so Asia and London stay empty there. Open a futures chart to see every session.
- **A taken line stops for a reason.** Once price trades through a session high or low, the line ends at that bar, so whatever's still running across your chart is untouched.
